With the Tatra Marathon, the 15th race of the circuit and only 9 remaining, we can say the first half of the Merrell Skyrunning World Series 2025 is complete, coinciding with the summer break.
- The circuit includes 23 races plus the final, the Skymasters, which will take place this year at the Marató dels Dements, in Eslida and Aín.
- Each race awards 100 points to the winners.
- The top 30 finishers score points.
- To qualify for the final, athletes must complete 4 races and finish at least once in the top 20.
- The overall ranking counts the 5 best results, plus the Skymasters, which awards 150 points to the winner.

A global first half
Three continents have already been covered:
- Europe
- Central and South America (the Minotaure Skyrace in Canada was cancelled due to adverse weather)
- Asia
After the summer break, the second half of the circuit will focus on Europe and Asia.
The circuit has been organized into race blocks, allowing athletes to participate in mini tours.
In America:
- Mexico Skychallenge and Andes Mountain Festival (two weeks apart)
- Ibarra Skyrace, Cordillera Blanca Skyrace, and the cancelled Minotaure Skyrace (three races in three weeks)
In Asia:
- Kailas Penang Skyrace (Malaysia, April 26)
- Ueda Skyrace (Japan, May 4)
Race highlights
The season began in March with Acantilados del Norte (La Palma), where Luca del Pero (ITA-Scarpa) and Marta Martínez Abellán (ESP-La Sportiva) claimed victory.
At Calamorro Skyrace (Benalmádena), Luca and Roberto Di Lorenzi repeated podiums, with Patricia Pineda winning the women’s race.
In Mexico, Abraham Hernández (MEX-Hoka) won, followed by Tranchand and Adkin. In the women’s race, Anastacia Rubstova (RUS) dominated.
In Chile, with the madness of Cerro del Plomo (5400 m), Damien Humbert surprised with the win. In the women’s race, Blanca Llumiquinga (ECU-Adidas Terrex) took the victory.
Europe and Asia: stars and surprises
In Europe, Luca del Pero and Frederic Tranchand have been consistent.
Alex Oberbacher (ITA-La Sportiva) stood out with a win at Matheysins and a podium at Monte Zerbión.
Martin Nilsson (SWE) has been the breakout star, winning Hochkönig and Tatra.
In the women’s category, Lucille Germain (FRA-NNormal) has been unbeatable: three races, three wins.
Exciting final stretch ahead
The second half promises intense competition.
- In men’s, names like Oberbacher, Nilsson, Nico Molina will challenge the favorites: Del Pero, Di Lorenzi, Santamaria, Quispe, Merillas.
- In women’s, the battle will be fierce between Rubstova, Dragomir, and Germain, with Irigoien, Pineda, Martínez Abellán, and the South American athletes if they decide to race in Europe.
Different strategies, equal opportunities, and a titanic effort to shine in the final ranking or make a mark at the Skymasters, held in Eslida and Aín on November 8.
