Eco-Responsibility: We run through the mountains, we protect their essence

The Marató dels Dements is more than just a mountain race — it’s a commitment to nature. The entire course runs through the Serra d’Espadà Natural Park, a protected area of high ecological value that we are dedicated to preserving. Our event is fully integrated into the Natural Park — a unique environment that deserves our utmost respect. That’s why we work closely with the Park’s Management Team to ensure the race is a model of sustainability and harmony with the natural surroundings.

🌿 Our commitment
As an organization, we take concrete actions to minimize our environmental impact:

✅ Zero waste: We eliminate single-use packaging and promote the use of reusable containers.
✅ Cup-free aid stations: We do not provide cups at aid stations. Every runner must carry their own reusable cup or bottle — it’s part of the mandatory gear. We also use biodegradable wrappers to reduce our ecological footprint.
✅ Sustainable course marking: We use reusable marking tape, reducing the amount of disposable materials used on the course.
✅ Respect for wildlife and vegetation: We avoid routes that could impact sensitive areas and mark the course responsibly.
✅ Environmental volunteers: A dedicated team helps clean and restore the trails used during the race.
✅ Sustainable transport: We encourage carpooling to help reduce our carbon footprint.

🏃‍♂️ Your role as a participant
To keep the Marató dels Dements a benchmark in mountain race sustainability, we ask you to follow these simple rules:

🌱 Leave no trace: Keep your waste with you until you reach a designated disposal point.
🌱 Carry your own cup or bottle: Cups will not be provided at aid stations, and your reusable container is part of the mandatory gear. Make sure to carry it at all times.
🌱 Respect the trail: Don’t take shortcuts or alter the terrain.
🌱 Be a mindful runner: Help keep the environment clean and encourage others to do the same.
