Due to the wildfire that has affected the Serra d’Espadà, a significant section of the Marató dels Dements route has been affected. Specifically, the first 10 km — Costera, Coll Roig, Nevera, Tarraguán and up to Font de Matilde. As a direct consequence, this year’s edition cannot be held entirely along the original route.

The organisation is already considering alternative routes, but our priority at this time is the recovery of the area once the wildfire has been officially declared extinguished. The race itself must necessarily take a back seat for now. We ask for the utmost responsibility and trust that you will respect the area by not entering or travelling through the burned zones under any circumstances.

Any modification to the route involves a huge amount of work and is never taken lightly. We never improvise, either with the route or with the organisation: runner safety and respect for the mountains are the foundation of every decision we make.

While the final route is being defined, and pending meetings with the relevant authorities to agree and finalise it, you can prepare for the race by training the climb to Puntal de l’Aljub from Font de Matilde, as well as the entire Mitja d’Aín route, from km 10 to km 42, which have not been affected.
